the Story of swissrent

Foundation

The story of swissrent began with the founding of Rentaski AG by sports entrepreneurs Köbi Durisch and Jürg Pesko. Their goal was to systematize the rental of ski equipment as a flexible alternative to purchasing. Early on, swissrent established partnerships with well-known companies such as Swissair and SBB, quickly positioning itself as an innovative provider in the rental market.

First Digitalization

In 1996, swissrent pioneered digitalization by launching its first website, marking the beginning of a new era for the ski and sports rental industry in Switzerland. With this platform, swissrent was able to significantly increase the visibility of its services and provide customers with a user-friendly booking experience.

Collaborations

In 2006, swissrent began international marketing through ALPINRESORTS.com, and in 2013, it expanded its offerings with customer-oriented products like Passepartout and EasyAbo to appeal to a wider audience.

Summer Rentals

In 2016, swissrent entered the summer market, focusing on mountain bike rentals and introducing the swissrent app, which offers mountain sports enthusiasts digital tools for a seamless outdoor experience.

New CEO

Under the leadership of Chris Ongarello from 2017 onward, Rentaski AG continued to evolve, and in 2020, rebranded as swissrent group AG—a brand that stands for experience and innovation in mountain sports rentals.

Acquisition by ALPINRESORTS.com

2024 marks a significant turning point: ALPINRESORTS.com, Europe’s largest online ski rental marketplace, joins swissrent. With Gunther Dillersberger as the new CEO, ALPINRESORTS.com brings extensive expertise and cutting-edge digital solutions for the ski rental market into the swissrent group. All swissrent partners now benefit from ALPINRESORTS.com’s digital expertise and exclusive services, allowing them to focus more on personal service and on-site customer support.
